Nvidia has launched its new quad-core processor for tablets and smartphones with Tegra name 3. One of the tablets that have been using this processor is the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime.

According to Matt Wuebbling, Senior Product Manager of Nvidia, Tegra processor is the latest generation of quad-core chips for the world's first mobile. Tegra 3, also known as Kal-El has five times the performance compared to Tegra 2.

Tegra 3 microarchitecture designed based on the ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore and the four cores can run at speeds up to 1.3 GHz. Tegra 3 also has a "Stealth", which is the fifth core that can be used for basic tasks when your cell phone or tablet mememiliki no need for the four main cores.

The new chip Tegra 2 is correct, such as increased processing, graphics, memory bandwidth, video and audio. Nvidia also said there are more than 15 games built on the Tegra 3, while there will be more than 40 games available through an application on the Android Tegra Zone in late 2011.
